This was an official Pre-Parliament event leading up to the next Parliament of the World's Religions, the largest Interfaith gathering in the world, which will take place December 3-9, 2009 in Melbourne, Australia.

Dear Friends,

On behalf of the Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions, we want to express our gratitude to you as a host for a Pre-Parliament Event in support of the 2009 Parliament of the World’s Religions- Melbourne. By hosting a Pre-Parliament Event, you and your community have played a major role in calling people of faith and goodwill to advance global peace and social justice.

Your community Los Angeles, CA has joined over 60 cities around the world who are also hosting local events during the months leading up to the 2009 Parliament. The impressive display of international support - which included the participation of over 6000 people - is unparalleled in the history of the Parliament.

To pay tribute to your commitment, we invite you and your attendees to two special international networking events during the Parliament, which will recognize your efforts as community organizers. This will also be a valuable opportunity to network with over 200 other civic and religious leaders from around the world. These events will be held during the opening and closing days of the Parliament--details on the dates and times will be sent to you soon.

This international networking event has another important purpose: it will be the debut of The Partner Cities Network, which will enable communities across the globe to engage with one another with a new level of efficiency and sophistication. You and your attendees will be among the first to learn about the Partner Cities Network and how it can enrich and enhance your local interreligious movement.

Registration is fast and easy. After you’ve registered for the 2009 Parliament, email Tim Manatt at tim@parliamentofreligions.org to express your interest in the international networking event. We also invite you to share this invitation letter with attendees of your Pre-Parliament Event who you think would enjoy and benefit from an international gathering of this quality.

Again, please accept our gratitude for supporting the important goals of the 2009 Parliament. With your help, our theme, “Make a World of Difference: Hearing each other, Healing the earth,” is certain to resonate far and wide and make a difference for years to come.

Sincerely,

Zabrina Santiago
Deputy Executive Director and
Partner Cities Director
Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions
